5 Best Hair Masks For Healthy And Luscious Locks

The strong rays and heat in the +65 means your mane might need a little more TLC on top of your regular shampoo and conditioner.

Louis Vuitton A/W 2011

If like us, your lipsticks, blushers and highlighters haven’t been getting as much mileage recently, then you’re probably itching to up your beauty routine in other ways. And if so, may we humbly recommend adding a nourishing hair mask into your regime?

Think about it, our locks get a lot of heat, literally. Not only do we subject it to styling, blow-drying and chemical treatments, UV rays can also cause damage to our strands. The result: dry, lacklustre locks with – gasp! – split ends.

The good thing is, our hair is pretty resilient and can bounce back with the proper care (though you might have to subject your ends to a little trim). Here are five of our favourite hair masks to help nourish, treat and hydrate your weary mane.

Kerastase Masque Extentioniste, $74

If you have dry, brittle strands, then this restorative mask is perfect for you. It has nourishing ingredients like Creatine R and Acid Maleic to help fortify and treat damaged hair, nursing it back to its optimal health. It also strengthens hair fibres, repairing rough ends and prevents future breakage, leaving your locks soft, shiny and strong.

Coco & Eve Like A Virgin Super Nourishing Coconut & Fig Hair Masque And Tangle Tamer Set, $64.90

We love beauty products that are as good for the environment as they are for us. This vegan mask has a chemical-free formula that is formulated without sulfates, parabens, and other harmful ingredients. Made with raw virgin coconut extract, fig extract, shea butter and argan oil, it works to prevent breakage and split ends, hydrate and detangle stubborn strands, as well as tame frizz. Something else to love about this is it comes with a tangle taming brush so you won’t have to worry about accidentally yanking out your locks when combing.

Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask, $55

One of our favourite new brands in Sephora Singapore, this creamy mask contains a cocktail of b-vitamins, oils, collagen and algae extracts to help restore vibrancy to limp, dull strands, control frizz and soften hair to give you a healthy and lustrous mane. The best thing about it: the mask promises to help reduce breakage by up to 75 per cent after just three uses.

Gallinée Care Mask For Hair & Scalp, $49

This French beauty brand is famous for its use of probiotics to bring your skin back to health, so it’s no surprise that its mask targets both the scalp and your strands. Made with a pre- and post-biotic complex, as well as fermented rice water, this helps to support your scalp's microbiome (to give you healthier locks), as well as soothes sensitivity and itchiness. The creamy mask also has Mafura oil to moisturise and nourish locks, leaving it soft and smooth.

Kiehl’s Olive Fruit Oil Deeply Reparative Hair Mask, $54

If parched, brittle hair that’s snaps and breaks whenever you brush it describes your mane, then you have got to try this deeply nourishing treatment. It intensely conditions, and repairs and strengthens weak hair fibers by restoring its moisture content. Its unique formula is also made with molecules that mimic the natural oils that coat healthy locks, so your strands will appear shinier and healthier.
