Facial Oils That Don't Feel Oily

Want to protect your skin against mask rash or dryness, but don’t want your complexion to feel greasy? Then you’re going to want to check these out.

There are a ton of benefits to adding facial oils into your skincare regime. Not only are they extremely hydrating, depending on their make up, they also come with other fun “side effects” like fighting free radical damage, plumping your complexion, boosting dewiness, giving you a glow and even softening fine lines.

Another thing we love about them? Well, facial oils are emollients that help to strengthen your skin’s protective barrier and prevent moisture loss, so your complexion feels softer and stays hydrated for longer, despite the friction that your protective mask might cause.

If you’re a first-time facial oil user and are afraid it might be too heavy or rich, then here’s an easy tip: add about two to three drops to your regular moisturiser. After a few days, your skin should feel more hydrated and protected. And when you’re comfortable, you can begin to use it on its own. Keep scrolling to see some of our faves.

La Mer The Renewal Oil, $400

This is our go-to when our complexion is feeling a little sensitive or inflammed. Made with the brand’s signature skin-healing ingredient Miracle Broth, it helps to soothe irritation, repair skin damage, strengthen skin’s stratum corneum and even soften and plump skin. For best results: shake well until you see tiny little bubbles throughout the oil before you apply.

Cle de Peau Beaute Radiant Multi Repair Oil, $200

Probably one of the lightest facial oils we’ve ever used – it gets absorbed within seconds and doesn’t leave behind any sticky sensation – this provides skin with hydration for up to 24 hours. It’s a great SOS for dehydrated or scaly, rough skin, and can be applied on your face, body and even hair. It’s the perfect treatment to bring on your ski trips (when we can finally travel again).

Three Aiming Facial Oil Essence, $210

Women with oily or combination skin types will love this. It not only helps to balance and clarify, so your complexion looks smooth and clear, it’s also chock full of naturally derived ingredients to improve skin elasticity, firmness and suppleness. Something else we love about this oil is its subtly oriental, spicy scent that makes us feel like we’re in a Japanese spa.

Skin Inc Serum-infused Night Oil, $98

If you prefer not to use an oil in the day, then this dual-phase night-time facial oil is perfect for you. Created to nourish all the different layers of skin, this is made with a cocktail of lavender essential oil, yuzu seed oil and pure olive oil to not only moisturise your complexion, but also leave it healthier, stronger and more radiant.

Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Facial Oil, $162

One of our favourite anti-ageing oils, this has an antioxidant rich blend of ginseng seed, camellia and sesame seed oils to nourish and treat tired, dry complexions. After just one week, our skin felt softer and more supple, and our face even had a healthy, dewy glow. Something to note, this has a herbal, citrus-ginseng scent that is relaxing, but might be slightly surprising if you weren’t expecting it.

Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil, $103

With a cocktail of sugarcane-derived, sustainable squalane oil and rose oil, this lightweight oil is chock full of skin nourishing fatty acids and lipids to boost skin suppleness, firmness and texture, while antioxidant-rich vitamin C helps to brighten and even out skin tone. It’s so lightweight that you can even add it to your regular foundation for an extra dose of moisture.
